Origin of Six Sigma Manufacturing

Six Sigma is a manufacturing process control strategy which first implemented by Motorola.

Six sigma being common used by any sectors of industry nowadays, especially those precision product manufacturing.

Six Sigma manufacturing implemented to control the process or stabilize the process. Then, seeks to improve the quality of process outputs.

To stable or improve the process, six sigma manufacturing tools need to be used to achieve the target.

Six Sigma Flow Chart - Which Method shall be used?
 
Define is the always the first step. Without clear direction and target, no project can be started.

If it is a new process or new product, company shall develop the

measurement criteria. As per six sigma concept, measurement system is compulsory to implement six sigma. After Measurement, analysis shall be applied. Then only go for design, finally verify the design to confirm everything fulfill requirement. This is known as DMADV which apply for new process or new product.

If it is existing product or process, continue measure process or product with existing measurement system. All the measurement shall be analyzed. Without analysis, measurement would not tell the result. Then, work on the improvement and finally make it as standard for better control. This is known as DMAIC, powerful six sigma method.

DMADDD actually is similar to DMAIC. The differential is DMADDD involved design or re-design.
