Six Sigma tools - Sources of variation (SOV)
- Methodology of Sources Of Variation (SOV) are
- 1.The behaviour of the process is observed in a production mode with no engineering adjustments (such as in a DOE) beyond normal production operation.
- 2. Data is collected over a sufficient period of time to capture a high percentage of the historical process variation (70–80%).
- 3. Graphical and numerical statistical methods are used to analyze the collected data and to assist in the identification of the major causes of the total variation of the process. This approach is generally called a Sources of Variation (SOV) Study.
- Note that we have used variances rather than standard deviations to represent the variability of each bucket. This is because variances are additive and standard deviations are not. This is similar to the Pythagorean Theorem where the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the sides of the right triangle.
- Statistical process control (SPC) is a six sigma process stability controller and estimator. SPC used for monitoring the process, estimate the abnormality. It gives signal once found any possibility that the abnormality going to happen. So that, the preventive action can be carried out before the problem.
- Design of experiments (DOE) is a six sigma tool that help in process optimization. Design of experiments also called as Taguchi experiments which is created by Dr.Taguchi.
- Six sigma tools in excel format is a six sigma tools that customized by using excel. It help to generate the value of sigma level, process capability(Cpk), probablity (P) and defect parts per million (dppm or ppm)
